“In My Mind” Artwork Exhibit

About the Exhibit

“In My Mind...” is a collection of artwork by individuals with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. These artworks are expressions of each artist’s hopes, feelings, dreams, and goals. The collection represents a wide array of interests, techniques, and styles—a detailed, colorful depiction of the sea, an action-packed scene, a fluid Earth rendered in watercolors, and so much more.

We hope that this artwork will provide a glimpse of the world through the eyes of these exceptional artists.

Exhibit and Clinical Trial Supporters

“In My Mind...” was made possible by the generosity of the Enkeboll Foundation for the Arts and Architecture, Omega Moulding and Charley’s Fund. Support for this trial also comes from the Nash Avery Foundation, Cure Duchenne and Action Duchenne.

The Enkeboll Foundation provided a grant supporting a clinical trial to test a promising medication for the treatment of Duchenne. As a condition of this grant, gallery space was created in Kennedy Krieger’s Outpatient Center to display artwork created by patients with Duchenne. By displaying artwork within the hospital, as well as on the internet, the artistic expression of individuals with Duchenne will inspire patients, their family, and staff, and others around the world.

Omega Moulding graciously donated all supplies and frames for the artwork and ensured that each frame met the specific safety standards of the hospital setting. This project is very close to the hearts of the owners of Omega, who have a personal connection to Duchenne.

CharIey’s Fund, a main sponsor of the clinical trial, administered the grant and coordinated with Kennedy Krieger Institute for the installation of the gallery. Their commitment to this project was limitless—their time and effort was truly a gift.
